For Art Stage Singapore, Truc-Anh has conceived a methodically chaotic and
dense installation of over 80 works on paper. Titled Ink Kingdom, the project
began in 2015 with 250 works exhibited in Paris and Roosendaal. Only
complete when the series reaches 888 works,
Ink Kingdom exists as a realm of infinite possibilities and variations of how images are
perceived. Interpreting moments in the history of representation (from art history and
world history to Hollywood and pop culture, religion and politics), Truc-Anh culls from a
global history to create images that resist established narratives.
Beautiful, grotesque, enigmatic and disquieting, Truc-Anh’s works reflect the staying
power of image making in our increasingly hi-tech world.
